Automechanika 2021: what the workshop of the future will look like

Automechanika 2021 is coming to an end with a clear idea: digitalisation is the key to the future of the sector.

The 4.0 workshop

In one of the many presentations we have attended in the online version of the fair, The Workshop of the Future 4.0, was the most repeated idea. Its five speakers –Sebastian Krampe (Porsche), Kurt Deppert-Lattki (TÜV SÜD), Helmut Eifert (DAT), Dr. Stefan Reindl(director of the IfA) and Dr. Jürgen Padberg (Detecon) – have focused on concepts such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality or working on the cloud as keys to the sustainability of the sector, concepts that we, at CAR, have installed in our DNA. Since our application was set on the cloud, we intend to make this future a reality.

Streamlining processes

On-demand functions, prediction of necessary vehicle servicing and automatic workshop calls in case of emergency are some of the essential processes that the industry needs to pay attention to.

It is no coincidence that CAR’s Online Appointment module is one of the points that experts and professionals at Automechanika consider key to speeding up processes. Offering customers the possibility of making appointments via the website and a specific app designed especially for this purpose.

Another line that has been highlighted is the rapid vehicle scanning, which reduces the analysis and identification of the vehicle in under twenty seconds.

In this line, we are developing a joint project with Spinframe to reduce these times, thus facilitating a task that, until now, has been laborious for specialists despite being carried out by digitised systems.

Human capital and augmented reality

Many of the experts who attended Automechanika believe that another one of the keys to the future of the sector lies in the training of human capital. This means having staff in the workshops themselves who are adapted to change, trained in this manner, and aware that this evolution is coming to facilitate their work and provide more value to the user.

One highlight is how augmented reality will finally allow them to operate the AR glasses comfortably with two hands, allowing them to work unhindered or to zoom in on parts of the vehicle to be analysed in detail.

All with the aim of reducing lead times, improving the customer’s final perception.

Our software: at the forefront of digitisation.
In addition to the online appointment, CAR’s proposal allows:

  • Constant communication between workshop and user.
  • Online access to detailed diagnostics, in which the workshop can upload files such as photographs, audio and videos.
  • Increase in the average ticket thanks to management of future commercial needs.
